Growing Up Fort Collins

Unite for Literacy Fort Collins

By June 19, 2015 Resource Spotlight

Unite for Literacy is an amazing organization which provides emergent readers with free access to culturally and linguistically relevant picture books.

Their digital library features over 150 picture books, all written in English, and with narrations in 29 languages. Anyone in the world that has access to internet, whether it’s a computer or smartphone, can access the library. There is no login, it’s all about getting more reading resources out there to create lifelong readers at a young age.

GUFC’s Sponsored Book

For the month of July, GUFC is sponsoring a book called “Teach Your Computer” by Mike Rudd. (Some of you may not know, but I’m currently in graduate school for public communication and technology at Colorado State University.)

I think it is important to educate our children about technology, in fact, this book really breaks down the complex concept of computing into a simple ideas. Check it out!

Teach Your Computer by Mike Rudd

Unite for Literacy has so many books available and their topics range from diverse families to Spring senses. I encourage you and your kiddo to take a look and visit Unite for Literacy’s online library.

More about Unite for Literacy

Unite for Literacy was born and raised in Ft. Collins. Their main goal is to bring awareness to the free reading resources and to encourage families to read everyday with their kids. The creators of this resource are both retired teachers and Unite for Literacy is their way of continuing the path of education. If your business wants to sponsor a book, I would encourage you to reach out to this organization.
