If you are familiar with Mothers’ Center of Fort Collins, then you should know that they’ve re-branded themselves as Fort Collins Families. They made this change because they wanted to recognize all family members – including dads and other caregivers, as they too attend the group activities.
Who They Are
Fort Collins Families is a volunteer-run group of moms, dads, and other caregivers who come together to play, to learn, to give and receive support, and to enjoy fun and educational activities with broad appeal.
Their activities include weekly playgroups, family socials, moms’ and dads’ nights out, book clubs, freezer meal swaps, and a babysitting co-op. They also host a Fort Collins Preschool Fair each January. (This years event is on January 31st!)
As a non-profit group created specifically for building community for Fort Collins’ families, they recognize the challenges, realities and value of raising children today. Most importantly, they provide parents and other caregivers a sense of camaraderie, peer support, empathy, information and resources. Their group is made up of moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and families of all types: both traditional and non-traditional families, large and small families, single parents, families with working moms (and dads!), families with stay-at-home moms, families with stay-at-home dads, and more. Everyone is welcome!
Their next events will be the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month at the Matthews House Community Life Center (gym or annex) on N. Grant Street between 10:30-12:30. It is free and open to all as a chance to check out the group.
They also host the Preschool and Activities Fair on January 31. If you want to be vendor then make sure you contact them.
Fort Collins Families’ mission is to bring together local families to support and connect with one another in a positive, meaningful way, which will build long-lasting friendships for both our adult and child members. Fort Collins Families is open to all parents and caregivers in the community regardless of gender, race, religion, national origin, financial status, or sexual orientation. As mentioned earlier, they are a non-profit. Learn more about them by checking out their Facebook page.
